RI strengthens strategic role in global postal, logistics ecosystem

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia was elected as a member of the Council of Administration (CA) and Postal Operations Council (POC)
of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for the 2025-2029 period.

By becoming a member, Indonesia affirms its strategic role in determining the policy direction and operations of global postal and
logistics services.

“Indonesia’s election as a member of the CA and POC of the UPU is both an honor and a great responsibility,” Director General of
Digital Ecosystems of the Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry Edwin Hidayat Abdullah said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

“We are committed to embodying the aspirations of Indonesia and developing countries to make postal services more modern,
innovative, and inclusive,” Abdullah added.

As a member of the CA and POC, Indonesia will prioritize three main agendas. First, strengthening member-based UPU governance
so that the voices of member countries, particularly developing countries, can influence UPU strategic decisions.

Second, encouraging digital transformation to ensure postal services remain relevant and inclusive in the digital and AI era.

Third, increasing the inclusiveness of the postal ecosystem by involving all stakeholders, both large and small, to build a resilient and
sustainable global postal and logistics service.
