8/28/24, 1:55 PM Emirati Women’s Day 2024: Logistics and supply chain
dominated fields. In this exclusive interview, she shares her insights on the importance
of this day, the strides women have made within 7X, and her vision for the future of
Emirati women in the logistics sector.
Significance of Emirati Women’s Day
For Alshamsi, Emirati Women’s Day is a reflection of the journey, resilience, and
achievements of Emirati women across the nation. “Being a proud Emirati woman and
mother, Emirati Women’s Day holds deep personal significance for me. It celebrates the
efforts and achievements of women and serves as an inspiration for the younger
generation while highlighting the power of perseverance and dedication to them,”
Elham shared.
Professionally, the day offers a platform to emphasise the importance of gender
equality and the recognition of women’s contributions in the workplace. “By
celebrating this day, we can promote the importance of an inclusive work environment
and supportive policies that foster career growth and empowerment for women,”
Elham emphasised. This perspective aligns with the broader goals of the logistics and
supply chain industry, where diversity and inclusion are increasingly seen as key drivers
of innovation and competitive advantage.
Elham also underscored the critical role that Emirati Women’s Day plays within the
logistics and supply chain industry, a sector traditionally dominated by men. “It plays a
vital role in highlighting women’s unique perspectives that drive innovation and
efficiency,” she noted. By recognising the contributions of women in the sector, the
industry can build a more diverse and competitive environment that enhances global
competitiveness and fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
Journey in the logistics sector
Alshamsi’s 25-year career in the logistics and supply chain industry is a story of
perseverance, growth, and breaking barriers. Her journey, which began in entry-level
positions, has been marked by determination and a pursuit of excellence. “When I first
started my professional journey in this male-dominated field, I confronted many
obstacles, but they all made me more determined,” Alshamsi reflects on her early
challenges. These obstacles, while daunting, became the stepping stones that propelled
her to leadership roles within the industry.
