Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority
(DECCA) today conducted a high-profile visit to Trafalgar Tower in Dubai
International City, to observe Fakhruddin Properties’ pioneering 90:90
Waste Management Initiative. The visit underscores DECCA’s
commitment to advancing sustainable waste practices and supporting
Dubai’s ambitious environmental goals.

The delegation, led by Fatima Mubarak, Environment and Sustainability
Specialist, and Iman Al Bastaki, Head of Department, was given an
extensive tour of the recently launched initiative. This innovative program
actively encourages residents of the 160-unit community to become
“grassroots sustainability advocates” by providing them with a dedicated
in-building waste segregation system.

Fakhruddin Properties’ proprietary 90:90 Waste Management Initiative
forms a crucial part of the real estate developer’s broader sustainability
strategy. It directly aligns with national and local environmental
objectives, including the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 agenda, Dubai
Municipality’s plan to close landfills by 2027, and the Circular Economy
Policy 2021–2031. The core aim of the initiative is to significantly reduce
the volume of waste sent to landfills through robust segregation of wet,
dry, e-waste, and recyclable materials.
