which falls on July 18th ever y year, is one of the most imp ort ant his tor ical mile stones in the

jour ney of the Unite d Arab Emir ates. This d ay marks the sig n ing of the Union do c u ment and the
Con st i tu t ion, along w ith the announce ment of the of fi cial name of the state, p av ing the way for
its even tual estab lish ment on D e cem b er 2nd, 1971. Since then, achieve ments have con t in ue d
across all fields und er the w ise lead er ship and the umbrella of the Union.

He state d that “Union Day ” is a nat ional o cca sion for all cit izens to cel eb rate the leg acy, vis ion,
and ef forts of the late found ing father, Sheikh Z aye d Bin Sul tan A l Nahyan, and his broth ers, the
fel low Found ing Fath ers. It is a d ay to rene w our com mit ment to uphold the val ues and prin -
ciples of nat ional unity and cohe sion that they inst ille d in us, gen er a t ion ater gen er a t ion.

unite d by the b elief in unity, gave rise to an unpre ce d en te d jour ney in the reg ion le d by men who

remaine d true to their prom ise to the nat ion and its p e ople. “Not only did their uni fie d vis ion
brought together seven emir ates und er one ent ity that d efine d the ambi t ions of a nat ion, but it
also set a con fid ent course for the future. The sig n ing of the D e clar a t ion of the Union and the
UAE Con st i tu t ion on that d ay p ave d the way for in a ne w era, trans it ion ing the coun tr y f rom the
