The UAE’s economy expanded by 4% in 2024, reaching AED1.78 trillion in real GDP, with non-oil sectors contributing a
record 75.5% of national output, according to figures released by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics
Centre (FCSC).
The growth reflects the country’s accelerating shift toward a diversified and innovation-led economic model.
Transport and storage sector boom
The transport and storage sector led the non-oil expansion, which posted 9.6% year-on-year growth—making it the
fastest-growing contributor to GDP.
This surge was primarily driven by the UAE’s aviation sector, where airports handled 147.8 million passengers, up nearly
10% compared to 2023.
Trade, manufacturing, and construction also featured prominently in the UAE’s economic performance.
The trade sector accounted for 16.8% of non-oil GDP, while manufacturing and construction contributed 13.5% and
11.7%, respectively.
