                H.E. Bin Touq participates in session on BRICS expansion at World
                                          Economy Forum Davos 2024




                Minister of Economy reviews UAE's efforts in developing economic partnerships
                                                 regionally & globally





             Abu Dhabi, 18 January 2024:

             H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, participated in a session titled ‘BRICS in

             Expansion’ at the World Economic Forum ‘Davos 2024’ in Switzerland, which was held from 15 to
             19 January under the theme ‘Rebuilding trust: Confidence in our future, trust within society, trust

             among nations.’

             H.E. Enoch Godongwana, Minister of Finance of the Republic of South Africa, and H.E. Smriti

             Zubin Irani, Minister of Minority Affairs and Women and Children's Development of India; and Jaw

             Givan, Chairman and CEO of Trina Solar, participated in the meeting.

             H.E. Bin Touq said: "The UAE, under the guidance of its wise leadership, has adopted a forward-

             looking vision to promote its economic openness to the world, build economic partnerships, and
             strengthen bridges of partnership and cooperation with strategic markets, thereby strengthening the

             country's position as a global partner, and an attractive and influential economic hub in line with the
             ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision.


             The Minister of Economy added: "The UAE has held more than 18 joint economic committees with

             18 countries at the regional and global levels over the past three years, including those with BRICS
             member states such as China and Russia. Through these platforms, we have worked to strengthen

             the prospects of economic partnerships, develop economic and investment cooperation programs and
             plans for periods ranging from one to three years in sectors and areas of mutual interest.”
