Announced on the opening day of Airport Show 2025, the multi-year deal will see
Smiths Detection deploy its HI-SCAN 6040 CTiX Model-S scanners in Terminals 1, 2

and 3.

Improved passenger flow

The computed tomography (CT) scanners produce high-resolution 3D images and
allow passengers to keep electronics and liquids in their bags, helping to reduce wait

times and improve efficiency at checkpoints. The move aims to boost security but
significantly it will also streamline passenger flow.

The new systems come equipped with automated tray return, smart lane

management and object recognition software. They are certified by international
bodies including the TSA and ECAC.

“Dubai continues to lead the world in aviation excellence by investing in the latest

security screening technologies,” said H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum,
President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Airports. “This

project strengthens passenger safety, enhances the travel experience, and reinforces
Dubai’s reputation as a global aviation hub.”

Intelligent infrastructure push

The contract supports Dubai’s wider push toward intelligent airport infrastructure as

DXB continues to handle record international traffic.
