 CHAPTER 9: EXIT TRANSITIONING
associates. In these exceptional cases, such collections may be permitted with the approval of Associate Experience. All such approved activities should be made during regularly scheduled rest and lunch periods as to not disrupt the work environment. Examples of University approved fundraisers include, but not limited to:
• United Way Donations
• Athletic Department Fundraisers • Student Event Fundraisers
Related questions should be directed in advance to Associate Experience.
RESIGNATION AND REHIRE
An associate’s voluntary resignation is a personal decision which Post respects and assumes only occurs after the associate’s thoughtful consideration of what’s best. In general, Post does not accept retraction of a voluntary resignation.
Preferably, resignation decisions should be communicated in writing to your supervisor. Verbal resignations are
also accepted as notice of your official intent to leave employment with Post. To ensure that student services
and colleagues’ workloads are not disrupted, non-faculty associates should provide at least ten business days’ notice of their resignation, and faculty members are expected to provide at least thirty (30) calendar days’ notice of their resignation.
In instances where working out a notice period is not in the best interest of the associate or the University, the associate may be released and paid for the remaining workdays within the notice period.
Former associates who voluntarily separate from
Post in good standing, return all Post property as required, and who work out their resignation notice period as expected may be considered for rehire. Any associate who is involuntarily separated or who fails to return all company property, including, e.g., cell phones, computer equipment, software, laptops, keys, credit cards, manuals, training materials, instructional materials, files, access badges, and garage entrance cards, intellectual property, etc. will not be eligible
for rehire.
A former associate who is rehired (regardless of the length of separation) will be considered a new associate from the date of rehire for purposes of pay, benefits and years of service.
FINAL PAYCHECK
An associate’s final paycheck will include regular compensation owed for time worked up through the termination, less regular taxes, withholdings, deductions and other amounts lawfully owed to Post. All such deductions will be administered consistent with applicable laws.
Upon separation, it is your responsibility to provide Associate Experience Payroll staff with your forwarding address. At Post, correct final paycheck distribution is administered to comply with applicable laws. Except
as otherwise required by applicable law, the University reserves the right to withhold the associate’s final paycheck until all Post property is returned.
OTHER SEPARATION INFORMATION
Associates must protect and safeguard Post’s confidential information in accordance with the terms of this Handbook as well as any Confidentiality, Non-Solicitation and Non-Competition Agreement completed upon hire or other related policies whether written or verbal.
BENEFITS AT SEPARATION
Associates’ normal payroll deductions for benefits continue through their last paycheck. Discontinuation of associates’ benefits coverage varies according to the respective benefit plan document. The Associate Experience Department should be contacted for more detailed information about applicable benefits upon separation from Post.
BENEFITS CONTINUATION (COBRA & EAP)
Post recognizes the importance of continued health coverage upon separation. In accordance with the federal Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (“COBRA”), associates and their qualified beneficiaries can take advantage of continued medical, dental and vision insurance coverage as a result of various “qualifying events,” including, e.g., resignation, termination of employment, death of an associate, an associate’s divorce or legal separation, a significant reduction in work hours or a dependent child no longer meeting eligibility requirements. Associates must notify Associate Experience
