The secretary general of the Swiss Association of Mountain Guides, Pierre
Mathey, also notes that competition has taken precedence over knowledge
of the mountains. This phenomenon is made possible by the layout of the
route, which guarantees participants that there will be no accidents due to
an external event, such as an avalanche.
ASYLUM: A rejected asylum seeker has won an action against the state of
Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The Federal Supreme Court has come to the
conclusion that the Swiss authorities did not respect the principle of speed,
which requires that a case be clarified as quickly as possible so that the
parties can be determined on their fate, according to the newspapers of the
German-speaking group CH Media.
In other words, the asylum procedure dragged on, unnecessarily
prolonging the duration of the asylum seeker's incarceration. The Supreme
Court of the Canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden must now define this
duration in order to determine the amount of compensation. The plaintiff,
who believes that he was unjustly detained in prison for 305 days, is
demanding a reimbursement of 61,000 francs, or 200 francs per day of
detention.
