BAKER MUSEUM EXHIBITATIONS
Chihuly Collection Ongoing
Four pieces by Dale Chihuly, known for revolutionizing the American studio glass
movement, are in the museum’s permanent collection and on view for all who visit:
“Red Chandelier,” “Blue Icicle Chandelier,” “Red Reeds” and “Persian Seaform
Ceiling.”
Magritte: Reflections of Another World Ongoing
The six paintings that comprise this exhibit — five oils and one gouache —are from
the collection of Jean Van Parys, a collector of avant-garde art and a close friend of
Magritte. On a five-year loan to The Baker Museum from Van Parys’ daughter, they
have never previously been shown in North America, and none have exhibited
publicly in more than 48 years.
Tamara Kostianovsky: Botanical Revolution Through April 7
Artist Tamara Kostianovsky utilizes repurposed clothing and other textiles to create
dynamic works of sculpture that reference humankind’s connections to nature by
echoing the forms of birds, tree stumps, plants and cow carcasses. This exhibition,
the artist’s first in the southeastern United States, will include new work inspired by
the bird and plant life of Southwest Florida.
Florida Contemporary Through June 30
This annual exhibition presents a select group of notable visual artists practicing in
Florida. Highlighting the diversity of artistic approaches to personal, local and global
themes, the 11th edition of this exhibition invites visitors to celebrate the state’s
vibrant art scene.
