He said “I smell something funny,
Something I have smelled it before.”
“Smells like those English boys
They sell down at the store.”
The Giant looked around, and
He began to search the house,
Jack and I just tried
To be, as quiet as a mouse.
“Fee-fi -fo-fum,
I smell the blood of an Englishman,
Be he alive, or be he dead
I’ll have his bones to grind my bread.”
Jack looked at me, and me at Jack,
I thought I would have a heart attack.
We were so scared,
Both Jack and me,
Hiding in that copper pot,
Where it was too dark to see.
The woman told her husband,
To go and get the hen.
“I think he may have gotten loose,
And escaped from his pen.”
