               Grandmother’s Flower Garden in Mourning Colors 1900. eBay purchase in 2012. 70"x81" Fabric: Wool. Batting:
               None discernable. Backing: Gray cotton. Edge: Knife edge stitched by hand, then re-enforced on the back
               by a row of hand stitching ¾" that does not show on the front. One edge is re-enforced with a brown tape
               on the back. Piecing: By hand. Quilting: By hand, 6 stitches to the inch, just inside the seam line of each
               hexagon, in black. Condition: Very good. I find one hole the size of a match head on the edge. Comment:
               Purchased to exhibit variety in color and scale in the hex design. The plain colors coupled with the choice
               of black quilting thread hints that the piece might be Amish.
