Crosses with Striped Diamond Corners Fabrics are 1930 except the orange, which appears older and fades
to yellow. Antique store or show purchase prior to 2003. 68"x87" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Cotton, medium
heavy. Backing: Clearly marked cotton flour sacks. Edge: Back is brought to the front ¼" and machine
stitched. Piecing: By hand. Quilting: By hand, clamshell or Baptist Fan, 4 stitches per inch. Condition:
Front-very good, with only slight fading, normal from washing cotton. Back: four mouse-holes have been
patched. Flour sacks have uneven purple cast, perhaps from dye bleeding before the quilt was made, since
no purple leaks to the front. Significant browning in areas on the back and soiled at the edges. Comment: I
have found no standard name for this pattern.
