               Rising Sun 1930s. Purchased at Sequim, WA in 1994. 70½"x75" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Medium weight
               cotton. Backing: Soft white cotton. Edge: The front is brought to the back ¾" and caught by hand. Piecing:
               By machine. Quilting: Tied with floss. Condition: The blue border has been repaired with one white patch
               and one blue patch and a split has been crudely mended by hand. One brown spot a half inch long can be
               detected, if you look, in a yellow center. Comment: This is certainly pre-WWII, since it is reminiscent of the
               Japanese flag, and ironically, red white and blue. The design would be displayed better, showing secondary
               designs more readily, if the too-soft blue border were covered with a red to match the figured area of the
               quilt.
