Gone Fishin’ The pattern and the prints are 1930s. From Auburn, WA in 1998. 66½"x78" Fabric: Cotton.
Batting: Thin cotton. Backing: Cotton. Edge: Backing is brought to the front ¾" and topstitched by ma-
chine. Piecing: By machine. Quilting: By machine in a grid. Condition: Good. The back shows a handful of
age freckles. Comment: Looks like fish to me; Hall and Kressinger call it "Slashed star" in The Romance of
the Patchwork Quilt (1935, 1938). The pattern is "Gone Fishin’" in the Encyclopedia of Classic Quilt Patterns
(2001.)
