 Recent Relevant Experience
City of Nanaimo Service Review (2016-17)
Working with Western Management Consultants, we undertook a service review for the City of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. The purpose of the project was to identify 10 ‘core’ service areas that were of highest priority to the City, and then undertake further planning to establish service standards and recommended improvements in each. The project involved extensive staff and community consultation, as well as benchmarking other similar-sized communities.
Municipality of Clarington Public Library Service Review (2016)
TCI undertook a service review and strategic plan development for the public library system of the Municipality of Clarington. The project involved extensive staff consultation, a community survey, a review of provincial library standards and data, community focus groups sessions, and a mapping exercise looking at the catchment areas for library users. Several recommendations for service improvement were made and the results adopted by the Library Board.
Township of Tay Library Strategic Plan (2016-17)
TCI developed a Master Plan for the public library system of the Tay Township. The project involved staff consultation and surveys, a community survey, a review of provincial library standards and data, and community focus groups sessions. Several recommendations for service improvement were made (in particular a recommendation to retail the existing 3-branch structure of the library, which had been a contentious issue) and the results adopted by the Library Board.
Oakville Museum Coach House Study (2016-17)
Working with ATA Architects, we assessed alternative uses for the Coach House (a unique early 20th century structure located on the grounds of the Oakville Museum). The work involved staff meetings and workshop sessions, an architectural review of the space, and public meetings. A use compatible with the adjacent museum operation was selected after the assessment process, and this direction has been endorsed by Council.
