Nunavut Tourism Economic Impact Model (2015)
Working with the CREVA Group, TCI developed an economic impact model for tourism in Nunavut, designed to track the economic benefits of this growing industry over time in this Canadian territory. This assignment involved extensive consultation with Statistics Canada in order to develop a purpose-built model (based upon their input-output tables of Canadian provinces and territories), and a review of data collection methodologies relating to obtaining input data on tourist expenditures by category.
Crystal Beach and Bay Beach, Fort Erie, Development Plan (2015)
TCI worked with The Planning Partnership on a study to identify development opportunities for Crystal Beach and Bay Beach in Fort Erie. Through an extensive public input process, various development options were identified and assessed, and one selected and recommended to the Town. TCI’s role was to examine the market, financial and economic impact dimensions of the options, in terms of the direct and indirect costs to the community (including tax benefits accruing to the Town from the various development concepts being considered).
Kagawong Marina Feasibility Study (2015)
For the village of Kagawong, part of the municipality of Billings on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, TCI undertook a feasibility study for an expansion of the Township’s marina operation. Working with a marine engineering firm and a local architect (who designed the facility) TCI’s role was to examine the financial implication to the municipality of operating the expanded marina, as well as the economic impact upon the local community of having the expanded operation in place. The project involved extensive consultation with other marina operations along the North Shore to determine the sustainability of the operation.
Markham Museum Strategic Plan (2016)
With WeatherstonBruer Associates, TCI is involved in the development of a strategic plan for the Town of Markham Museum. Key elements of the plan related to the development of a vision and mission that specified the unique aspects of Markham’s story that could be told in the museum and through the historic buildings on site, and that related to the use of ‘pioneer technologies’ employed by early settlers.
