 Recent Relevant Experience
Richmond Hill Heritage Centre Facility Study (2015)
With Reich + Petch, TCI undertook a review of the Town of Richmond Hill’s museum function, and assessed different levels of provision beyond the status quo provision (which was offering a limited program at the Amos Wright House in the old downtown area and a small display of archaeological artifacts at a community centre). Three scenarios were developed in this regard; TCI’s role was to assess the impact of each in terms of market attractiveness, attendance, and staffing and financial implications. This provided Council with the base data it required in order to advance the municipality’s heritage program further.
  Casa Loma North Campus (2015)
This project was to assess a variety of options for use of the North Campus area of the Casa Loma campus in mid-town Toronto. A variety of uses were assessed, with a particular emphasis upon the suitability (or otherwise) of the site as a possible home for a ‘City of Toronto Museum’. A key part of the assessment was to review the site and locational requirements of other city museums (which turned out to be access to transit; proximity to the historic core; and the availability of other cultural attractions, shops and restaurants nearby). The assessment concluded that the Casa Loma North Campus location was not optimal for this purpose.
Science North Economic Impact Assessment (2014)
This project involved the development of a complete economic impact assessment of the operations of Science North in terms of the capital improvements made by the facility, as well as the expenditures of the Centre itself and tourist visitors to the attraction. In addition, the operations of Science North’s adjunct operation in Thunder Bay (an exhibit manufacturing facility) were examined.
Shaw Festival Audience Segmentation and Analysis Study (2014)
For the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, TCI undertook an audience segmentation and analysis study. The core purpose of the work was to determine why certain visitors were not returning to the Festival while other, newer Festival participants, were choosing to come to the Festival, some for the first time. The results of the analysis informed subsequent strategic planning and marketing efforts of the Festival.
