47th Area I Leadership Conference

March 1 - 4, 2018

National Area One Director, Lady Harnell Williams, convened the 47th Area One Leadership Conference, March
1, 2018 through March 4, 2018 at the DoubleTree by Hilton San Antonio Airport, in San Antonio, Texas where
River City and San Antonio Metropolitan Chapters and the Area One Executive Board showcased the conference
theme Top Ladies of Distinction and Top Teens of America: Engaging in the Enhancement of Programs that Invest in the Commu-
nity through Volunteer Service and the national theme Investing in V.A.L.U.E.S. that Support, Enhance and Sustain, in a
variety of ways throughout the conference.

Congratulations are extended to Area One’s newest chapter, Spring-Cypress! The chapter was chartered January
6, 2018, with Lady Regina Dickson, as the Spring-Cypress Chapter Organizer and National Editor of the Crown.
The Spring-Cypress Chapter President is Lady Alexis Herron.

The main focus of the 47th Area One Leadership Conference was to provide conference level mentoring, training,
inclusion and participation of the Area One TLOD and TTA officers to include the Administrative Assistants un-
der the direction of Lady Jacqueline Carter and Lady Barbara Wooten. The intent of this focus was to provide
leadership experiences for Teens to share with their chapters. Lady Judith Washington, Membership/Induction
Chair, along with Lady Orethann Price, Membership/Induction Co-Chair inducted two new Ladies into Top La-
dies of Distinction, Inc. They were Lady Louann Freeny, Longview Oil City Chapter and Lady Marsha Mathis,
Nacogdoches Chapter. Area One Chaplain, Lady Shwanda Warner, conducted the memorial service for the La-
dies, Lords and Teens listed, as well as all other members of the TLOD family who transitioned from this life to a
life with the Lord. It is with deep sympathy that Area One memorialized Ninth National President , Lady Vivien
Coe Richard, Dean of the Vivien Coe Richard Top Teens of America Leadership Academy, Lady Anna Kirksey,
Former Assistant Area One Top Teens Advisor, Lady Rita Swink and Former Area One Legal Counsel Lady Mar-
cia DeLaRue, OranJe.
