The Public Meeting/Joint Opening featured the introduction of the Area One TLOD, Inc. and TTA Officers,
National TLOD Inc. and TTA Officers, Past National TLOD, Inc. Presidents and Past National Area One Di-
rectors, by Lady Jacqueline Carter, Area One Administrative Assistant. Music San Antonio Style was provided by
the Mariachi Toritos. During the Public Meeting/Joint Opening, nineteen outstanding members of the Greater
San Antonio Community were recognized for providing exemplary service related to activities involving the pro-
grams and projects of TLOD, Inc. Lady Rhonda Harris, West Cluster Coordinator of Area One, River City’s
Miss Top Teen Jasmine Mitchell and San Antonio Metropolitan’s Miss Top Teen, Connor Caldwell recognized
the following community leaders: Commissioner Tommy Calvert, Bexar County Commissioner Precinct 4, Wil-
liam “Cruz” Shaw, San Antonio City Council, Mrs. Tracy Shelton, Representing Dr. Adena Loston, President, St.
Philip’s College, Mr. Willie Clark, Bexar County Industrialization Opportunities Center, Mr. Mario Rafael Salas,
Community Activist, Supporter and Author, Mrs. Barbara Gervin-Hawkins, Texas House of Representatives, Ms.
Laura Thompson, TAAN TV General Manager, Mr. Nolan Anderson, National President, Wiley College Alumni
Association, Mr. Edward Ratcliffe, President, Blacks In Government, Region VI, Father Kevin Fausz, CM, Holy

River City and San Antonio Metropolitan Chapters welcomed the Ladies, Lords and Teens Thursday, March 1,
2018, to Celebrate the Motherland at the African-American themed hostess night event. Conference attendees en-
joyed the Parade of African-American Fashions, led by Lady Harnell Williams, Lady Tandalyn Lott and Lady Vir-
ginia Pope, Host Chapter Presidents, Lady Bobbie Turner, Area One Director of Operations and Conference
Chair, playing African-American themed games, dancing to rhythm and blues, hip hop, Old School and rap music
as they dined on San Antonio cuisine.

The Area One Literary Café, Chaired by Lady Barbara Smith, showcased the outstanding literary and performing
arts talents of Area One Top Teens as they competed for Literary and Performing Arts Awards.

One of the highlights of the conference is the “Me and My Mentor” Awards Breakfast at which Lady Cynthia
Bell, Chair and the Awards Committee, assisted by Top Teen Officers, made presentations to Teens, Ladies and
Senior Top Teens in the categories listed.
