                   Remembers…

Lady Swannie Moore Richard transitioned at the age of 96 on November 18, 2018. She

                            was born the only child of the late Mr. &. Mrs. Aaron Bert Moore and Lossie
                            Dora Moore of Burlington, North Carolina. Lady Swannie met Lord David F.
                            "Daddy" Richards, Jr. and together they raised three children. She graduated
                            with honors from North Carolina Central University. Prior to moving to Sa-
                            vannah in 1976, she was the first African-American female to hold the position
                            of Educational Services Officer in the Department of the Army in Mannheim,
                            Germany. She also served in the United States Army Area Confinement Facili-
                            ty in Mannheim, Germany and at Army Headquarters in Anchorage, Alaska.

                            She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Savannah
                            Alumnae Chapter; Top Ladies of Distinction (former President); Savannah
                            Section of the National Council of Negro Women (Charter President); board
 member of the King Tisdell Cottage Foundation. She gave her time and expertise to the American
 Red Cross, the American Cancer Society and the Neighborhood Heart Association. A founding char-
 ter member of the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, she also served a stint on the Tidelands
 Executive Board as well as the Graham/Burlington Chapter of Jack and Jill of America.

She leaves to cherish a loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4, David
F. Richards, Jr; three children, Rev. David F. Richards, III (Linda) of Stone Mountain, GA, Yvette Kim
Richards of Kansas City, Missouri, and Dr. Bonnye Kaye Richards Anthony (Vincent, Sr.) of Durham,
NC; grandchildren, Monique Peterson (Charles), Keith Gaskins, Danielle Robinson, David F. Richards
IV, Micah R. Richards, Aaron J. Richards, Joshua I. Richards, Faith Christina Anthony, and Vincent An-
thony, Jr.; great granddaughters, Shamika Murrell, Brionna Banks, SyMah Robinson, Shanya Robinson,
Imani Robinson; and great-great grandson, Kayson Norton; a special caregiver and beloved neighbor,
Winifred Mincey; and a host of relatives, mentees and friends around the world.

Lady Dorothy Stoker Starks passed away on February 14, 2019. Born in Harleton, Texas

(near Lake O’ the Pines) on September 4, 1942 to John and Valarie Stoker. She was the third of five
siblings. She accepted Christ early in her childhood at the New Prospect Baptist
Church, Harleton, TX. After completing her education in the Harleton ISD, the
family relocated to Denton, Texas where she graduated from the historic Fred
Moore High School. In 1957, she married the late Tommie Geter, Jr. and
moved to South Carolina. To this union four children were born. Upon return-
ing to Dallas, TX, in 1969, she embarked upon a career in the medical
field. She served over forty- five years in the operating room as a Certified Sur-
gical Technologist. In 1973, she married the late Willie George Starks, who
proceeded her in death.
