THE MEMPHIS CHAPTER
On December 8, 1991, a group of interested ladies met at the Hilton Hotel with Top Lady Hattie Morris,
National Area IV Director of Top Ladies of Distinction, to form a Memphis Chapter of this outstanding
organization.

With willing hearts, spirited minds and a desire to serve teens and adults, this group’s enthusiasm
mushroomed from a small gathering of four ladies to a union of twelve who possessed the same qualities.
After a series of organizational meetings and communications with then National President, Jacqueline Parker,
a former Memphian, chapter formation was completed. On Friday, February 8, 1991, at the 11th Annual Area IV
Leadership Conference, these twelve ladies were inducted and the Memphis Chapter was chartered. In its
twenty-six years of service, the Memphis Chapter has continued to support various local and national projects,
along with developing new partnerships which 'serve' to promote the betterment of the Memphis community.

January 2016 TLOD Memphis was honored to assist with the Chartering of the new Tipton County Chapter and Induction of Lady in Waiting Veruska
Wilson, Representative with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Top Teens had the opportunity to directly interact with the National President, Lady
Drema Woldman and she observed their chapter meeting. Memphis Chapter is also proud of their representation on the Area IV National Director’s,
Lady Crystal Pittman’s executive leadership team.

Annually the Memphis TLOD and TTA Chapters conduct an off-site Planning Retreat to coordinate and outline their program of work and service for the
new fiscal year. Ladies and Teens have separate planning sessions but come together socially for lunch.
