The Music ln Schools Teacher Music Mentoring Program (DUET) increases the confidence and capability of primary school teachers to deliver high-quality curriculum-aligned music education to enhance students’ achievement, engagement and wellbeing.
DUET provides teachers with access to professional learning workshops, in- class modelling and one-to-one mentoring, and long-term music program planning and support. 100% of participants in 2022 reported that as a result of the DUET program they now feel confident to incorporate music making into their everyday teaching practice.
The program has been delivered across Victoria in partnership with the Victorian Department of Education since 2019. So far, this initiative has supported over 550 teachers in 310 schools, impacting more than 12,000 students. A new multi-year contract with the department will see DUET continue in schools across the state until 2025.
