P. 2
Why is foot and wheel borne contamination control needed?
80% of contamination entering a room is carried in by feet and wheels (older 3M Study).
Contamination held on a polymer mat remains in place until cleaning – contamination on
an „unprotected“ floor rises to shoulder level and above with normal walking and cart
movement.
Best Customer Opportunities
Customers who are currently using tacky mats -
a. Understand the need to control foot and wheeled contamination
b. Have budget in place
SimStep works better
Every published independent study has proven polymer floor mats remove dramatically
more bacteria and contamination on every step than adhesive peel off mats.
Size
Contamination on feet and wheels is in layers and of varying size requiring multiple
„touches“ on a tack surface for removal. For an average adult 3 steps with each foot or
3 wheel rotations are the average needed for complete decontamination
(275 cm – 305 cm mat length needed).
Customers often want to try a small piece for tests. This is a failure about to happen as
the small mat gets very dirty, requires many cleanings and is ineffective like a tack mat
(see trial mats).
