            “Must” expresses obligation imposed by the speaker

            while “Have to” expresses external obligation.



            Teacher: You must complete this essay by Friday
            Student: I have to complete this essay by Friday.


            NOTE: “Had to” instead of “Must” is used in the past tense.

             #2 Prediction in the future
             I think it will rain later so take an umbrella with you.



             #3 Make an offer, a promise or a threat
