ABSTRACT
A prototype of a smart home system remote control based on arduino using android smartphone as
controller has been made. This system can help the users to control electrical devices from a
distance. This system is equipped with on and off button on the software that will be embedded in
android smartphone to control four electrical devices, so users do not need to go to the system to
turn off or turn on electrical devices. The system is made using arduino uno as the control system,
bluetooth as a communication medium and android smartphone as a remote control. The
smartphone android transmit serial data via bluetooth to the arduino uno. Data entered in the form
of text processed by the arduino to control the relay circuit on a prototype smart home. This system
has been able controlling four electrical devices prototype smart home. Results of tests conducted,
the system can be controlled with an android handheld in a time and the system can be controlled
by the control distance of 10 meters indoors and 13 meters in outdoors.
