Construction of the Second
Red House
The work of rebuilding it began the
following year, and the Red House, as
we know it today, was erected on the
same site. It was opened to the public
th
on the 4 February, 1907, by Governor,
Sir H.M. Jackson. The work was
completed in 1906.
The Second Red House was
much larger and more
embellished than the first.
This was done to give the
Red House a more stately
appearance.
One of the most noteworthy
trimmings to the building
was the elaborate stucco
ceilings that formed part of
the interior of the building.
