APPROACH
Focus on how changes could be made to the individual or the
team to reduce errors and improve performance.
When considering ways of modifying individual and team factors,
ask yourself:
● How could changes be made to the way individuals are
recruited or selected for employment to ensure that they
have the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to
perform their required tasks safely and efficiently?
● How could individuals' motivation to perform their tasks
safely be improved or incentivized?
● How could the content of training programs be developed
or modified to improve individuals' knowledge of
procedures or tasks?
● How could the method of training delivery be improved or
modified to enhance its impact on individuals' knowledge
and skills (e.g., use of simulation)?
● How could individuals' retention and compliance with new
policies and procedures be better monitored and
evaluated (e.g., recurrent testing or drills)?How could
individuals' stress and fatigue be reduced or monitored to
improve safety and performance?
