EVALUATING POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

       EVALUATING POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

                          FACES

Now that you have completed your list of possible solutions, the
next step is to determine which ones should be recommended
     for implementation.
To accomplish this goal, the Human Factors Intervention Matrix
(HFIX) contains a method for evaluating each incarnation using
a set of criteria called FACES:

Feasibility - Can the change be implemented relatively easily or
     quickly?
Acceptability - Will those being impacted by the intervention
     readily accept the change?
Cost/Benefit - Does the benefit of the intervention out- weigh
     the costs?
Effectiveness - How effective will the intervention be in
eliminating the problem or reducing its consequences?
Sustainability - How well will the intervention last over time?

These criteria can be used to generate a final list of your top
ideas that are most likely to have a positive impact on
performance or safety. Flip to the “FACES Scoring Rubric" tab to
     rate each proposed intervention.
