place she called her work home for decades. Brown was named Nurse of the Year at Arch
Plaza six times and was also recognized as the LPN Nurse of the Year for the state of
Florida in 2005.
Plaza Health Network also said goodbye to Yolaine Joseph, who began working at the
facility that is now Aventura Plaza Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in 1981,
nearly 37 years ago. A certified nursing assistant (CNA), Joseph now plans to spend more
time with her four children and ten grandchildren, though she says it will be difficult to
not get up and go to work every day.
“If I had to do it all over again, I’d do exactly the same thing,” said Joseph. “God called
me to nursing.”
Joseph was instrumental in the success of the Adoptive Family Program, where she
“adopted” more than seven residents and patients on her own to ensure they were well Specializing in Medically

and day-out. As for what the future will bring, Joseph says, “I’ve been meaning to retire Complex Patients
