9. The Adjective
An adjective is a word used to describe a noun or a pronoun.
Example : I will make some tea for you.
(Here 'Some' is the adjective and it describes the noun 'tea'.)
Kinds of Adjectives

1. Adjective of Quality : Adjectives that indicate the quality of a noun are called
adjectives of quality.
Example : The intelligent girl has passed.

They indicate the shape size colour of a person or thing.
Some examples of adjectives of quality are beautiful, great, slow and magnificent. They
answer the question 'what kind' with respect to the noun or pronoun they describe.
2. Adjective of Quantity : These adjectives are measuring words that modify the noun.
Examples : (i) I want some tea.
(ii) We need a little rest.
They indicate the quantity of the noun or pronoun they describe.

3. Adjective of Number : These adjectives tell us how many persons or things are being
talked about. They indicate the number of the noun or pronoun they describe.
