BJP's Nayab Saini takes oath as Haryana’s New Chief
Minister
A few hours after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned
from his post, MP Nayab Saini took the oath as
the chief minister of the state. Earlier today,
Khattar met governor Bandaru Dattatreya and
resigned along with his cabinet ministers.
Nayab Singh Saini comes from the OBC
community and last year he was made the state
president of BJP Haryana.
Khattar on Tuesday resigned hours after
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance with
Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) broke.
JJP led by deputy CM Dushyant Chautala had
10 MLAs in the Haryana Assembly. Khattar
submitted his resignation letter to Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya.
After leaving Raj Bhavan, senior BJP Leader Kanwar Pal Gujjar said, "CM and the cabinet ministers have
resigned and the Governor has accepted the resignations." On being asked who will be the next CM, Gujjar
said, " The CM will continues to be the CM."
Who is Nayab Singh Saini?
1. Nayab Singh Saini, the sitting Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, has been appointed as the leader
of the BJP legislature group in Haryana.
2. Saini, belonging to the OBC community, assumed the position of the Haryana BJP state president in
October last year.
3. His association with the BJP dates back to 1996, starting with organizational roles and progressing
through various significant positions within the party.
4. Nayab Singh Saini's political career saw significant milestones, including his election as an MLA from the
Narayangarh constituency in 2014 and his ministerial appointment in the Haryana government in 2016.
5. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Saini secured victory from the Kurukshetra constituency, defeating his
closest rival from the Indian National Congress with a substantial margin.
6. Saini is known to be a confidante of Manohar Lal Khattar, and his appointment as the leader of the
legislature group is seen in the context of electoral and caste considerations.
