PM Modi Congratulates Shehbaz Sharif On 2nd Term As

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday
congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on taking oath as
the prime minister of Pakistan.
Sharif on Monday took the oath as prime minister
of Pakistan, assuming the cash-strapped country's
reins for a second time, nearly a month after an
inconclusive election marred by allegations of vote
rigging.
PM Modi said on X, "Congratulations to
@CMShehbaz on being sworn in as the Prime
Minister of Pakistan." In the February 8 elections, Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party
came second. Independent candidates backed by jailed former prime minister Imran Khan's Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Insaf won the most seats but failed to get a majority in Parliament.

In a major development, the Prime Minister of Pakistan,
Shehbaz Sharif, has conveyed his sincere thanks to India’s
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for his warm congratulatory
message on his ascension to the premier role. This response
came after PM Modi’s gracious greeting acknowledging
Shehbaz Sharif’s momentous swearing-in as Pakistan’s
Prime Minister, as per a report
“Thank you @narendramodi for felicitations on my election as
the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” Shehbaz Sharif posted on X.
“Congratulations to @CMShehbaz on being sworn in as the
Prime Minister of Pakistan,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
Shehbaz Sharif was elected as Pakistan’s PM after he secured 201 votes in the National Assembly on
Sunday, defeating his rival Omar Ayub Khan, who was backed by the PTI. There were protracted talks for
government formation and PML-N held talks with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other parties,
including MQM-P, PML-Q, BAP, PML-Z and IPP.
