ISRO’s ‘naughty boy’ rocket to launch India’s latest

       weather satellite today

The meteorological satellite INSAT-3DS is set to embark on its
space journey aboard a Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle
(GSLV) this Saturday evening. This mission is of paramount
importance for the GSLV, affectionately referred to as the
"naughty boy" due to its erratic performance history.
Scheduled for liftoff at 5:35 pm from the Satish Dhawan Space
Centre in Sriharikota, the GSLV-F14 will mark the rocket's 16th
mission and its 10th flight featuring the indigenous cryogenic
engine. The success of this mission is critical as the GSLV is
slated to carry the Earth observation satellite, NISAR, later this
year. NISAR, a collaborative effort between NASA and ISRO, aims to map the entire globe in 12 days,
providing consistent spatial and temporal data for understanding changes in Earth's ecosystems, ice mass,
sea level rise, and natural hazards such as earthquakes and tsunamis.
Given the GSLV's track record, where four out of 15 launches have been unsuccessful, this mission
assumes heightened significance. In contrast, ISRO's PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle), with 60
missions, experienced only three failures, and its successor LVM-3 has not encountered any.
Weighing 2,274 kg with a mission life of 10 years, INSAT-3DS will take over the responsibilities of INSAT-3D
(launched in 2013) and INSAT-3DR (September 2016), which have reached the end of their mission life.
Fully funded by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the satellite will be injected into a 36,647 km x 170 km
elliptical orbit approximately 18 minutes after launch.

Meerut Metro's first trainset unveiled in major boost to

       rapid rail project

The first trainset for the Meerut section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-
Meerut rapid rail corridor was unveiled on 16th Feb in Gujarat’s
Savli, marking a significant step towards the completion of the
       ambitious project.
The indigenously designed train set was handed over to the
National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
Hailing the development of the train set, Union Minister Hardeep
Singh, in a video message, said it "demonstrates our capabilities of
       building world-class infrastructure".
