A Single-user operating system is a system that allows only one user to work on it

at a time. Single user operating systems are usually used at homes.

A Multi-user operating system is a system that allows more than one user to

work on it at a time. Multi-user operating systems are used in offices, big
organisations such as hospitals, railway stations, etc.

APPLICATION SOFTWARE

Application softwares are designed to perform one or more specific type of jobs
on a computer.

For example, you draw and colour
pictures on MS Paint , but you cannot

play a movie or a song on it.

For this, you need to run the Windows Media

Player which is another software specially
designed to play movies and songs. Hence,

MS-Paint and Windows Media Player are

examples of application softwares.
