Control Unit (CU)

The Control Unit works like a manager. It controls and manages the working of

all parts of a computer.

Arithmetic and Logic Unit (ALU)

The Arithmetic and Logic Unit performs all arithmethic calculations like

addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It also performs logical
operations like finding the greater(>) or smaller(<) number, etc.

Monitor

It is similar to a television screen.

8 It shows the result of your work.

8 It has an ON/OFF switch. You can also watch movies and
pictures on a monitor.

8 It is also known as the Visual Display Unit .

8 The information we get on computer screen is called soft copy . CRT, LCD

and LED are various types of monitors.

Keyboard

The Keyboard is made of several small buttons known as

keys. Each key is assigned for a number, letter or a special
function.

The computer needs a keyboard to type the information into it.

Mouse
Right Button

The Mouse is a pointing device that controls the
movement of the pointer on the monitor screen. It has
two or three buttons that are used for performing

actions on the computer.

COMPUTER ACCESSORIES

Apart from the main parts, computer has many accessories. A computer
accessory is an equipment attached to a computer for greater functionality.

Accessories include-

1. UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) 2. Speakers 3. Printer
