Read the descriptions of the planets in our solar system. Write their names in the blanks :

            1. This is the third-largest planet. It is tilted on its side and spins north-south rather than
                east-west. It has 27 moons. _____________________

            2. This is the largest planet. If it were hollow, you could fit 1000 earths inside! It is made up
of gas and is not solid. The most famous feature is its Red Spot. It has 79 known natural

                satellites. _____________________

            3. This planet takes 165 Earth years to go around the Sun. It appears blue because it is made
of methane gas. It also has a big spot. It has 14 moons. _____________________

            4. It is the smallest planet in the solar system and it doesn’t have a moon. Its atmosphere is
so thin that during the day the temperature reaches 427°C but at night it gets down to -

                173°C. _____________________

            5. It is nicknamed the ‘Jewel of the Sky.’ Because of the greenhouse effect, it is hotter than
Mercury, even though it's not as close to the Sun as Mercury is. It does not have any
                natural satellites. _____________________

            6. It is nicknamed the ‘Red Planet’. It can easily be seen from the Earth with naked eye. It has 2

                moons. _____________________
            7. This planet is the second-largest in the solar system. Winds can reach up to 1,100 miles

per hour. It is also made of gas. This planet is famous for its beautiful rings, and has at
                least 53 moons. _____________________

            8. This planet has a bright blue colour. It is the only planet to have life on it, and it has a large
amount of liquid water. It is protected from the Sun's UV. radiation by Line ozone layer that

stretches 20-30 km above this planet. _____________________

            9. This dwarf planet was discovered in February of 1930. It is the farthest planet from the

Sun. It was only planet to have been discovered by an American. ____________________
