Values, Ethics, and Charity
Businesses get it: charity is good for business. According to the Council on
Foundations, more than two thousand corporate foundations contribute in excess
of $12 billion a year to nonprofit organizations in cash, goods, and services.
Business philanthropy generates invaluable publicity, illuminating corporate
fulfillment of community responsibility. Workers, too, have taken a hard look at
their own values and ethics, and are trying to determine how they fit into the
workplace. “Social responsibility” is the new buzzword, with both employees
and the world at large benefitting, as the quotes below show.
