The Holy See approved a
miracle qualifying Calungsod for
sainthood by the Roman Catholic
Church on December 9, 2011. The
recognized miracle date was
March 26, 2003 when a women
from Leyte had a heart attack and
was pronounced as clinically dead.
Two hours after the incident, she
was revived when an attending
physician invoked Calungsod's
intercession.
Pope Benedict canonized him
last October 21, 2012 during the
World Mission Sunday.
San Pedro Calungsod is the
second Filipino to be declared
saint by the Roman Catholic
Church, next to San Lorenzo Ruiz
of Manila.
