Columbus addressed the Portuguese king’s advisor in a
letter to him informing him of his ability to prove the
sphericity of the earth, and that he would like to open a
new sea route that passes through the port and islands
of Portugal attached to his map, and explaining the sea
route heading towards the west, in addition to the places
that will be discovered later by his hand, Late April
1492 AD, Christopher Columbus concluded an
agreement with the Spanish Catholic Kings.
The agreement provided for the recognition of
Columbus as a discoverer of islands and continents in
the sea and the ocean, and also pledged to grant
Christopher Columbus, according to a royal decision,
the rank of Prince of the Seas and Oceans, thus
obtaining 10% of the gold and goods that he would
bring with him upon his return without imposing any
taxes on them.
The ships, all loaded with their crews, set off and the
exploration began. On October 12, he was able to
discover the San Salvador Islands, which are now
called the Bahamas, and after 16 days, the sailors were
able to reach Cuba, and on December 16 of 1492 AD,
