Then the king turned around and faced the people as they stood before him; and
blessed them.
He stood and in a loud voice blessed the entire congregation of Israel.
2 Chron. 20:9
They said, “Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plaque, or
famine, we can come to stand in your presence before this temple where your
name is honoured. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and
rescue us.”
Mark 11:25
But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against,
so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins too.

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: “I thank you, God, that am not a sinner
like everyone else, for I don’t cheat, I don’t sin, I don’t commit adultery, I am certainly not
like this tax collector”
But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he
prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow saying, “O God, be merciful to me, for I am a
sinner.”
