It is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
Pancreatic cancer is a disease in which malignant
(cancerous) cells form in the tissues of the pancreas.
The pancreas is a gland located behind
the stomach and in front of the spine. The pancreas
produces digestive juices and hormones that
regulate blood sugar. Cells called exocrine pancreas
cells produce the digestive juices, while cells called
endocrine pancreas cells produce the hormones. The
majority of pancreatic cancers start in the exocrine

November is also Native American Heritage Month, or
as it is commonly referred to, American Indian and Alaska
Native Heritage Month.
The month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse
cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the
important contributions of Native people. Heritage
Month is also an opportune time to educate the general
public about tribes, to raise a general awareness about the
unique challenges Native people have faced both
historically and in the present, and the ways in which
tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.
What does Native American culture mean?
Native American cultures across the United States are
notable for their wide variety and diversity of lifestyles,
customs, art forms and beliefs.
