The Intrepid testing team!
Was it exploring, or even pioneering? We never really decided!
I am not quite sure who came up with the idea of testing out the route instructions and directions for the DGD... but it was a job that needed doing and somebody had to do it!! Was that the short straw or our lucky day !!
There we were, the week beforehand, a group of us who were not driving at the event setting off in gorgeous weather, meandering through fabulous scenery and in the excellent company of friends.
When arrived at the Gunabul Homestead Jack whipped out some welcome ad hoc picnic-style refreshments from his hidden stash while we compared notes on the twists and turns of the instructions. No one had got lost so that was a megga TICK in the box for starters.
A big THANK YOU to our organiser for what turned out to be a most enjoyable
day.

In 1996 the Leyburn Sprints was established. Celebrating the 1949 Australian Grand Prix. Historic racing cars and cars of special interest compete in numerous classes to complete a short 1.0 kilometre (0.62 mi) course through the town. The event has become the town's biggest attraction.

Leyburn Sprints
Leyburn [a small town in the Southern Downs of Queensland] is just about equidistant between Toowoomba and Warwick.
Spotted in the crowd at this year’s event in September by Joan Coles were visitors from Brisbane and also the Sunny Coast including RCC club members... she also snapped Dick Johnson being pushed along to the start of the town circuit where he did a display lap in a great old 1922 Wikner Ford.
Thanks for the photo Joan!
