Handbrakes MORNING TEA @ ‘THE SHED’ in PALMWOODS
24 SEPTEMBER 2021
On a hot sunny morning we gathered beside the dusty railroad tracks in Palmwoods at the aptly named SHED! However, inside, apart from the occasional rumble of a passing train, all was quiet and serene – the staff were attentive and the scones, cakes and other goodies were delicious and the barista hard at work.
However, the noise level soon rose considerably with 16 ladies chatting around a huge antique dining table... the escorting menfolk at a similar but smaller table in the dining area adjacent.
The Shed is extensive and shaped like an over-sized shoe box, with the restaurant at one end, and various divisions, nooks and crannies spread along the rest of the building. It is packed to the rafters with antique and modern artefacts and objet d’art delightfully arranged on shelves, show cases, more antique tables and even hanging from the walls and ceiling: china, cut glass, pictures, silverware, flowers, books and ornaments – and that’s just for starters !!
We had agreed that the tempting menu could entice us back for lunch on another occasion and no doubt some of us will pop in for a little surreptitious taste of cake when we are in the area!!!
