AUSTIN FORKNER
Austin Forkner has been one of the most talked about rookies in recent years. He absolutely dominated virtually every amateur race the past few seasons aboard his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki. His success and speed was so fascinating that it prompted Chad Reed to “subtweet” Forkner essentially asking him why not jump into the pro’s right away instead of waiting for the outdoor season to start.
The two joked back and forth on twitter about it but it just built the hype up for his debut even more.
When Hangtown finally arrived, Forkner was ready to show the world what he’s got and he did so by throwing down some blazing fast laps in practice. He could not find that same fire in the motos coming away with 13-7 finishes but his starts did not help his cause. Round two
at Glen Helen went much better for the rook as he was about to make a pass for the lead in the second moto but he would go down and drop a few positions. His starts were a problem again in Colorado but he would manage to grab a strong fourth place in the second moto. His speed is right on par with the championship contenders and one would think that it is only a matter of time before he completely breaks through for podium or even a win. If he can put two great starts together, the odds will definitely be in his favor.
