Weston Peick returned to action this weekend at High Point after missing Thunder Valley with a concussion. The JGR Yamaha rider put forth a nice qualifying effort with the eleventh fastest time
and looked poised to duke it out in the motos. Eleventh place is where Weston Peick would find himself as the green flagged waved on the opening lap of moto one. He didn’t waste much time at all passing McConahy and Lamay on lap two to move inside the top ten in ninth. He then set his sights on his teammate Phil Nicoletti in the distance and worked to break the gap down. He would catch up and make the move on him for eighth ten minutes into the moto. But just as he would do so he would start to receive pressure from Justin Bogle. The two riders would have a heated battle but Bogle would get the best of it halfway through the moto moving Peick back to ninth. Then late in the race his other teammate Justin Barcia would put pressure on forcing Peick to pick up the pace and ultimately catch back up to Bogle. The three riders would fight it out but Peick would hit the deck and fall back to fourteenth to finish the race. Peick was angry he crashed out of a top ten late in the first moto so he looked to avenge that in moto number two. He emerged tenth after lap one and immediately went after Nicoletti like he did in the first moto. They would dice again and Peick would once again make the pass to move into ninth. He then went after the Frenchman Christophe Pourcel. Those two riders with their contrasting styles would have a nice battle ultimately ending with Peick taking away eighth place from Pourcel ten minutes in. Peick stayed consistent the rest of the moto despite receiving a little pressure from Pourcel late but he would hold on to finish eighth. Peick looked a bit like his normal self again with some nice aggressive riding with 14-8 scores and he will surely look to better that next weekend at Muddy Creek.
