ARNAUD TONUS
If any fans of motocross aren’t yet familiar with the #66 Monster Energy Kawasaki of Arnaud Tonus, their list of 250 class favorites is about to change. The recently turned 25-year-old European star has finally settled into American soil and has begun to reach the threat-level that Mitch Payton has been waiting for. It’s been a slow start for the Geneva native, though, as a dislocated shoulder in Detroit halted is 2016 Supercross
season in sudden fashion after he battled illness for the majority of 2015. Yet, Tonus has come alive for the outdoors recently and currently sits 8th in points coming into Washougal for round nine. Interestingly enough, Washougal was the setting of Arnaud’s sole 2015 outdoor appearance, a race where Tonus finished in 10th overall with a 3rd in the first moto. Now, coming back
to the same Switzerland-esque environment in southern Washington and remounting the same green steed a year later, the door to opportunity is flung wide open. If he can get the start, there is no reason that Tonus can’t hang, it just all depends on getting near the front early before the front runners run away.
