The race weekend got off to tumultuous beginnings for the Yoshimura Suzuki rider after a vicious spill in Superpole held
him back from qualifying at the sharp end of the grid. Elias had
to settle for the front of the fourth row as he finished the session with the tenth fastest time, salvaging
a decent starting position after tumbling through the gravel trap. In the opening race, he rebounded in typical fashion as he stormed his way to the front of the field by the first corner after executing a spectacular start. >>
