It was business as usual during the month of March for Nick Romano, terrorizing the 85cc ranks aboard his Team Green backed KX85. The New Yorker finished on the podium in five out of six races that he contested at Daytona, only receiving an eighth place finish in the 85cc (9-12) main event due to a collision with a lapper. Fortunately, Romano escaped injury free and still managed to score two second overall finishes in both Mini Sr. classes, continuing his regular podium form. The Team Dunlop Elite rider moved onto Freestone and brought his blinding speed with him, earning a total of four podium finishes throughout the week of racing. The young Kawasaki rider found most of his success in the 85cc (9-13) class and the Mini Sr. 1 (12-13) division, earning fourth and third overall, respectively. Some unexpected mis- fortune hindered his overall results in the other classes that he entered, but Romano was clearly one of the fast- est riders in the mini ranks all week long at the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship.
GAVIN TOWERS
Gavin Towers put himself at the forefront of the Mini Sr. classes throughout the two days of racing at Daytona International Speedway for the RCSX. The Pennsylvanian was ultra consistent on the opening day of racing, subsequently recording
two fifth place finishes in the various Mini Sr. classes as well as a fourth place result in Supermini 1. Towers wasn’t able to replicate the same consistency between his respective divisions on the final day of racing, but the KTM rider still laid down an exceptional performance in the Mini Sr. 2 class, taking advantage of a good start in order to capture a third place overall finish. Towers moved onto Wortham, Texas for the JS7 Spring Championship at Freestone and he found the same success in the Mini Sr. 2 division. The young Pennsylvania native recorded two top five finishes against the deep field of competition, eventually combining for a fifth place overall result after both motos came to a close.
