RYDER THOMPSON
The Indiana Hoosier of Ryder Thomp- son searched far and wide for com- petition this winter, and finally spotted his desire in Wortham, Texas, for the Freestone Championship. He salivated at the thought of numerous competitors trying to come and take a solid finish from him, waving them on and provok- ing them to step-up. He would fend them off, moto after moto, bottling his aggression, and turning it into solid laptimes. His best outing would come in the 85cc (9-10) limited division, where he would walk away from round number one with a fifth place finish. His team and pit crew told him to top the previous score, and guess what? He would do so, answering when called upon. The fourth place in moto two would be good enough for a third overall, and wave of momentum heading into qualifier sea- son. If he can do it against the likes of this competition, there’s no reason why he can’t continue to improve, and make noise throughout the rest of the year.
GAGE WILCOX
Gage Wilcox, or simply “12-Gauge”, as the fans like to call him, would roam the prairie of Wortham, Texas, looking to fire upon the prey, and claim a hefty ransom to take home. All throughout this particu- lar week, he would scan the raceway to each perimeter, looking to hunt down
the largest prize of them all: the podium finish. Throughout both Mini Sr. classes, he would come ever so close, firing round upon round, pecking the leaderboard with multiple fifth place finishes. He would then line up for the 85cc (9-13) class, tell- ing the gatekeeper to let the animals run, and would quickly capture his opponent shortly there after. Lap by lap, he would sniff the trail of the top dog, finally finding his best groove in the 85cc (9-12) group. The first moto was a mad dash, as he would run wild; the result? A spectacular fourth place ride. However he wanted
to bring home something a little heftier, something a little more satisfying. And he would find it, taking third in the final moto, claiming an epic third overall! This young man is willing to search, hunt, and capture anything he wants. A scary side for all competitors indeed.
